Coir is a coconut fiber with high tensile strength and a decomposition rate that makes it suitable for a temporary substrate stabilizer. Coir Fiber Baffles are porous barriers installed in sediment dams and silt basins. They reduce the velocity and turbulence of the water flowing through the erosion control device and facilitate the settling of sediment before being discharged offsite. In addition, the baffles improve sediment retention. Installation of baffles in sediment dams, traps and basins is crucial to prevent sediment from breaching these devices and are required on most projects.
Bioretention conversion areas and Water Quality Ponds (WQPs), as shown in the projects below, are useful options for stormwater quality control on small development sites and where safety and aesthetics are a concern.
Once a project reaches its final stage, these temporary devices or structures may require conversion to more permanent solutions.
Using engineered plans, Eco Turf executes these BMP conversions at a competive price and per the applicable regulatory requirements.
